Dar es Salaam, our country's largest city, is undergoing rapid growth, presenting us with a significant challenge the escalating issues of waste management. As the population continues to rise , the amount of waste generated has reached alarming levels. Notably, a substantial 70% of plastic waste is disposed of carelessly, finding its ways into rivers and negatively impacting marine life.
Additionally, a further 30% of plastic waste ends up in landfills. The consequences of incinerating this waste contribute significantly to air pollution, a prevalent concern within our urban landscape. Despite our ongoing efforts to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness throughout the community, GERF adapts a new strategy. Our emphasies lies in educating the young generation, recognizing their potential to drive positive change.
By providing knowledge and awareness, especially to the youth, we aspire to create a cleaner, more sustainable urban environment, setting the stage for a promising and environmentally concious future for our city.
