Ocean

We actively collaborate with stakeholders and partner organizations to address the pressing issues impacting our oceans. Our primary focus is safeguarding marine ecosystems from pollution and exploitation, with a strong emphasis on reducing plastic waste and supporting sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities.

Through coordinated efforts, GERF has organized numerous beach clean-up initiatives aimed at removing plastics and other pollutants that threaten marine life. These activities are vital in protecting the health of our oceans and preserving biodiversity along the Tanzanian coast. In addition to physical clean-ups, GERF provides valuable guidance to Beach Management Units (BMUs) on best practices for beach maintenance. This contribution further underscores our commitment to long-term ecological preservation and practical, community-driven conservation.
